Baby Quilt

Amanda helped me with this quilt for a friends daughter.

We bought the front and got bought material for the back and also for the border. I decided to quilt it together by drawing a bubble bee in several places.

When we gave our friend the quilt and she told us the material on the back of the quilt was the same material she was using to decorate her nursery.

With this quilt I made the label with my computer and printed it out, then hand stitched it on the back.2015-05-14 10.13.042015-05-14 10.13.122015-05-14 10.13.172015-05-14 10.13.312015-05-14 10.14.05

Amanda’s Quilts

In 2014 I had my daughter join me doing the Block of the Month Quilts. She choice the “Paris in the Fall”  pattern. I didn’t realize how difficult this pattern would be until she got into it. The pieces where small and a lot of them. After a couple of blocks she picked it up and did a great job.

It took her 20 months to finish it, all the while going to college (for the first time) and holding down a 4.0 average all year. Yes I the mom that brags on her girls.

She did the blocks and then the sashes, then sew them together in rows. She quilted the rows together and finished the border. The last bit was to sew it all together and put a binding around the quilt.

The Blocks I am working on this year are similar to hers, I thought about doing the sashes and border differently, but after I saw how lovely her quilt turned out, I will finish it like the pattern.

William’s Quilt

This was my first attempt to design a quilt. I had been collecting material for a special quilt for William. I would buy material from places we would visit on vacation. The back is a fleece blanket with a border. It’s big enough to cover him when he is watching TV. I really like the soft cozy way they feel and are nice and warm.

Getting Old Quilts Done

In October 2014 I had knee replacement surgery. So recuperating gave me lots of time to work on old quilts. As any quilter you always have several projects waiting to get done. This was a great time for me to work on those old projects. When the girls were in school one of our projects was learning to quilt. I had one of the quilts squares ready to be put together and this was one of the projects I worked on.

After I finished this quilt I gave it away to a dear friend who has been there for us this year to watch Gramma Clark while we took some time to get away as a family. She has been there to volunteer to sit with her. So I really wanted to give this to her. I can let you know that she loves it.

LNM Quilt 2

I love the colors and how it turned out.

Danielle was getting quilts from me for her friends this year. I was given the pieces for this quilt, some of the quilt was already put together and I just had to finish it. I used extra material that I got with the quilt LNM Quilt and I bought some more material to finish it. This was the quilt that gave me the idea to use fleece for the batting and backing. I want to do more of these. My youngest daughter, Serena, is finishing her quilt like this. She bought a fleece blanket and is putting it all together. I will add photos of her finish quilt.

A Baby Quilt from Scraps

A Baby Quilt

I friend of mine was cleaning out her sewing room and getting rid of her unwanted material. I have quite a bite of fabric now, but I am using it and making a lot of gifts.

My daughter who lives in Holland, Michigan mentor was having their second baby. I had some squares for the material I acquired. So I put some squares together and not knowing what they were having I didn’t know if it was for a boy or girl. The back I wanted to be soft and cozy. I decided on buying scraps of fleece and putting them together. I did not add batting and l tied the two fabrics together.

2014 Block of the Month Quilt – Abigail’s Sampler

This quilt is my second Block of the Month Quilt I am doing by hand. This one I am quilted the blocks together by rows and than put the batting and back with the front together and quilted them. I sewed the rows together and now I am adding the border to it one row at a time. When I’m done putting on the border, I will add the batting and the back material and then hand quilt a design in the border. The last thing I will need to do it add the binding.

As I am working on this quilt, I have started the 2015 Block of the Month Quilt. The one thing I have decided to do is change up me color themes. So in 2013 the Baker’s Dozen was done in the Brights colors. 2014 Abigail’s Sampler was done in my favorite, I call country colors. the 2015 Quilt is in the Reproduction Colors; these colors are like the colors and patterns done in the 30″s. The picture of the quilt below is taken from the pattern. I will publish the finish quilt when I finish it.

I’m Back!

Sorry it’s been almost two years since I entered anything here. This past year and a half has been a difficult year, to make a long story short we have been taking care of an elderly relatives and Christmas 2013 my father-in-law went to be with our Lord. 2014 was a year of taking care of William’s mom and all that goes with the changes.

In the 2013 – 2015 I did keep up with my quilting and got a lot of projects done and some new projects started.

So I will start with where I left off; my 2013 Block of the Month quilt. The Bakers Dozen id the title of this quilt.

This was the first quilt I did by hand and was a quilt as you go. This means that you finish the block and add the batting and back and quilt it together. When they are all done you sew them together and add the border. I really enjoyed doing this quilt and it was my first quilt I finished in a year.

Quilt Postcards

I’ve had this idea in my head for awhile now and I finally did some up. I’m posting the steps for making them.

I did up some quilt patterns on graph paper and copied the patterns. I did about 6 copies of each pattern.

I cut out the patterns and picked out about 3 – 4 colors of scrapbook paper.

I cut card stock to the size of the quilt pattern and cut out all the colors of the pattern. I glued the pattern onto each color.

As you see in the last two photos I did this pattern in two different color schemes. After I cut out the patterns then piece the patterns onto another piece of cardstock. and glued them onto the cardstock. I added a plain piece of cardstock for a border and glued the pattern onto the border. The last piece of cardstock was the size of a postcard. ImageOn the back of the postcard I printed out a page that looks like a postcard. This was done up by my daughter Amanda.

Here are some more pictures of some other quilt patterns I did so far:

ImageThis is the same pattern but the colors worked up to some different squares

.ImageImageTwo more different patterns.

I still have more patterns to finish.

I will be putting these together in packages to sell at the Deerfield Garage Sales on June 7 & 8. The money will go to Amanda and Danielle for their Summer Ministry Trip to California. They will have a table in the Deerfield Church of God – in the gym.
